The assignment
A development team builds an internal portal based on the needs and requirements of the department. Because the key stakeholders sit inside the organisation, we can move quickly and process feedback right away. I choose this assignment deliberately to gain experience in the public sector.
What I do
Besides building and improving parts of the portal, I propose and implement two technical improvements:
- A modern front-end. I introduce React with Tailwind CSS, and design an integration layer that lets Django components such as Forms and the in-house web component library work well with React.
- A faster pipeline. I optimise the CI/CD pipeline, among other things by migrating to the uv package manager.
